I am an award-winning senior football producer with 30 years’ experience in the football broadcasting industry. I have produced live football in the UK, The Middle East, South East Asia, and more recently Australia. Having left the industry on a permanent basis due to the global pandemic I combined my experience and love of football and music to produce two new YouTube channels. ‘Ally Begg AB TV’ which was recently shortlisted for a Football Content Award for ‘Best International Podcast’. focuses on my passion, Aberdeen FC, ‘The Accidental Pop Star’ tells my story of my time in 90’s boy band Bad Boys Inc through a series of interviews with those who have had similar experiences.
In the summer of 2024, I launched my brand new Public Relations & Communications company. I began my own sports broadcasting career with MUTV in the summer of 1999. After five successful years in Manchester, where I also presented for Sky Sports News and talkSPORT Radio, I made the move to Glasgow, after Setanta Sports sealed the rights for the Scottish Premier League in 2004.
In August 2007 I moved to Singapore after accepting a role with global sports broadcaster ESPN Star Sports. In 2009 I made the difficult decision to leave my presenting career behind and stepped into the world of sports production. I produced the English Premier League and soon became the company’s principal producer of ‘Sportscenter’. In the summer of 2012, I was designated as one of two senior producers to produce the London Olympic Games.
In 2013 I was approached by sports broadcaster beIN Sports where I was employed as a senior football producer. Having made the move to Qatar I started producing the networks English Premier League, and UEFA Champions League and soon became a regular producer of the network’s vast European football coverage. I also produced the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Football Championships, the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Nations League, FIFA’s Confederations Cup, and the 2019 Asian Cup.
As well as my YouTube channels, I am a writer and author of two Aberdeen Football Club-related books. I live near Salzburg, Austria.
